Avery continues to play well beating Roxton and losing to 3A power TPG.  Avery rebounded with wins over Detroit 25-15, 25-15 then lost in four to 3A Commerce. Milano beat Normangee and Cayuga.  Milano looks strong after finishing as champions of the silver division of the Leon Tournament, defeating Normangee in the finals.  They also had quality wins over Moody and Cayuga in bracket play.  Teams that impressed at the Bronte A Invitational included Bronte, who had a good win over Windthorst in bracket play, then met Wink in the championship game.  Cayuga had quality wins over Lindsay and Leakey, while Miles had quality wins over Cayuga and Water Valley.  Malakoff Cross Roads and Overton are playing well while Normangee looked good at the Leon Tournament despite losing to Milano.  Moody looks like a solid team.  North Zulch was third place in the champion’s bracket at the Centerville tournament to improve to 13-3 on the season.  North Zulch beat Groveton (2A) 25-16, 25-8 then lost to Mexia (3A) 12-25, 23-25 and finished pool play by beating 2A Buffalo 25-11, 25-11.  During bracket play, North Zulch upset Centerville (2A) 14-25, 25-19, 25-17; then lost to Normangee 20-25, 27-29; and won the third place game against Goodrich (1A) in three.

Comments: Lucas Lovejoy strutted their stuff for the second straight week.  Last week the Leopards won the Allen Texas Open and this week they placed fifth at the Nike Pearland after winning seven of eight matches and beating former 4A #1 Lake Travis for fifth place.  Abilene Wylie is now 25-1.  The Longview Springhill Lady Panthers are presently 14-4, with their losses coming against 4A Hallsville (twice); White Oak (Number 2 team in 2A whose only loss this year is to Hallsville) and Crawford (Ranked in 2A).  This past weekend the Lady Panthers traveled 3 hours to Waco to the Waco Robinson Tournament where they went 7-1 and winning the Consolation Championship.  In the Championship Gold Bracket on Saturday, the Lady Panthers lost to Crawford in three and then went on to beat: Academy in 2 straight, West in 2 straight and Waco Robinson in 2 straight to win the Consolation Championship.  Commerce is currently 19-4 losing to 5A North Mesquite this weekend in the Wills Point Tournament.  Commerce beat 4A Forney and Wylie East in 2 at the tournament.  The loss to North Mesquite them winning the 3rd  place game since they were on the same side of the bracket as North Mesquite.  Commerce has beaten Wills Point 25-13, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22;  Tyler Chapel Hill 25-15, 25-9; Edgewood 25-12, 25-18; Wylie East 25-17, 25-21;  Quinlan 25-10, 25-7; North Mesquite 25-14, 25-18; and Forney 25-13, 25-21.  Monahans beat Frenship on Tuesday, then in the  Seminole Tournament on Friday beat El Paso Hanks, lost to Midland Lee and beat Brownwood.
