TGCA Cross Country Nomination Instructions and Guidelines
Coaches should nominate athletes through the on-line nomination process on the website, but may request forms to be e-mailed or faxed.
November 1 is the last date for cross country coaches to become a member of the TGCA and be eligible to nominate athletes for cross country honors. The head varsity coach of any athlete or support staff receiving an award must be a member in good standing by the membership nomination deadline. This also applies to Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, and All-Star Coach honors.
Monday noon prior to the Cross Country State Meet is the deadline for on-line nominations:
All-Star
All-State
Academic All-State
Athlete of the Year
Coach of the Year
Nominations after the on-line deadline must be submitted to a committee member prior to the assigned selection meeting.
All nomination forms must be sent to TGCA by:
-
Submitting on-line at www.austintgca.com;
-
Mailing to TGCA at 1603 Manor Road, Austin, TX 78722;
-
Faxing to TGCA at 512-708-1325.
All-Star Nomination Guidelines:
-
All-Stars must be SENIORS;
-
Coaches may nominate more than one athlete;
-
Only one Cross Country All-Star will be selected from each conference (1A-2A-3A and 4A-5A) with qualifying times from the State Cross Country Meet;
-
Cross Country All-Stars may not be Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field or Softball All-Stars;
-
An athlete selected as a Cross Country All-Star automatically is a nominee for Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
Academic All-State Guidelines:
1. Academic All-State athletes and senior members of the support staff of that sport must be GRADUATING SENIORS;
2. Must have an overall GPA average of 94 or above for grades 9-11.
(Do NOT submit a nomination if your athlete or support staff member does not meet this GPA requirement.) Nominations MUST be submitted in NUMERICAL form rather than on a point scale; i.e., 94 or above rather than 4.0, 5.0, 3.8, etc. Ten (10) points may be added for weighted courses;
3. Must be a varsity participant or member of the support staff of that sport in good standing; and4. Be of good moral character.
