TRACK & FIELD ALL-STAR SELECTION PLAN

 

 

 

SECTION I.                NOMINATIONS FOR TRACK ALL-STARS.

 

A.         Nominations may be made by TGCA member varsity track and field coaches.  Coaches

             must nominate their own athletes.  These nominations should be submitted online or

            mailed to TGCA no later than noon on the Monday prior to the state track meet.

           

B.        Verbal nominations are not accepted. 

 

C.        Qualified track coaches may nominate more than one athlete from their school. 
           However, no school can have more than one All-Star per sport. For an All-Star to be

            eligible, she must be nominated by her varsity track coach.

 

D.        All-Star teams will not be selected by individual events.

 

 

 

 

SECTION II:   SELECTION COMMITTEE

 

A.        This committee shall be composed of the members of the TGCA Track & Field Committee.

 

B.        The Track Committee will meet at the UIL State Track Meet.  At this meeting, the Committee shall select All-Star teams in 1A-2A-3A and 4A-5A consisting of 15 athletes per All-Star team, with 15 alternates being selected in both 1A-2A-3A and 4A-5A. These teams will not be selected by individual events.

           

C.        Two athletes from the same school can be named to an All-Star team.  Clarification: The Track and Field Committee will have the option of selecting two athletes from one school, and one school only per All-Star team on a yearly basis..

 

D.        Conference and regional representation will be considered by the selection committee.

 

 

SECTION III:               THE TGCA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

A.        The Executive Director will verify the Track and Field All-Stars as soon as possible after the state meet.

 

B.        The Executive Director will then notify the selected Track and Field All-Stars and their

            coaches of the selection.  The selected All-Star should know within seven (7) days of

            notification whether or not she will be available to receive her award at the honor award

            presentation at the Summer Clinic and should so inform the Executive Director. 
            The deadline for a Track & Field All-Stars' final acceptance is June 1.

 

C.        Coaches may duplicate the nomination form if more than one athlete is nominated.

 

 

SECTION IV: THE PRESIDENT

 

A.        Will resolve selection disputes and problems.

 

B.        Approve track and field All-Star verifications with the Track Committee Chairman and the Executive Director.

 

C.        Will meet with the Track Committee at their meeting during the state meet and at any other meeting in this regard as requested by the Track Committee Chairman.

 

 

SECTION V:  TRACK HONOR PRESENTATION

 

A.        Until such time as it is feasible or possible to implement an All-Star track meet during the Summer Clinic, this track All-Star selection method will be used to honor some of the state's senior girl track athletes.

 

B.        These selected All-Stars will make up the TGCA All-Star Teams.  They will be recognized both as an individual and a team at half-time of the 1A-2A-3A All-Star basketball game at the Summer Clinic.

 

C.        Each All-Star will receive a special award at half-time of the All-Star basketball game. 

 

D.        Lodging and meals will be furnished to the All-Stars.  All clinic sessions and games will be free for the All-Stars.

 

E.        The high school coach of each All-Star will also receive a special award certificate at half-time of the All-Star basketball game and will be recognized.

 

F.         The All-Stars will be chaperoned while at the Clinic by two adult females selected by the Track & Field Committee.
