SELECTION GUIDELINES

Member coaches of the Texas Girls Coaches Association have the privilege of nominating an outstanding athlete to be named as Athlete of the Year in basketball.  The selected recipient of the outstanding individual for Athlete of the Year may be selected from any gradle level from 9-12. The head varsity coach of any athlete, cheerleader, or support staff receiving an award must be a member in good standing by the membership nomination deadline. This also applies to Coach of the Year and All-Star Coach honors.

All nomination forms must be submitted to TGCA by:

~Submitting on-line at www.austintgca.com;

~mailing to TGCA at P.O. Box 2137, Austin, TX 78768;

~faxing to TGCA at 512-708-1325; or

~submitting to a regional representative for delivery to the Basketball Committee after the on-line nomination deadline has passed.

Nominees must fulfill the following requirements:

1. May be selected from any grade level from 9-12;

2. Be an outstanding athlete in her sport;

3. Demonstrate positive character traits (honesty, loyalty, leadership, cooperative

                        attitude).

Two Athletes of the Year will be selected for basketball at the UIL State Basketball Tournament: one athlete from a 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A school; and one athlete from a 5A, 6A school.
