TEXAS GIRLS COACHES ASSOCIATION

DUTIES   OF   SOFTBALL  COMMITTEE   CHAIR

 

  I.        Preside over

            A.  Softball Committee meeting held during State Softball Tournament.

            B.  Softball Committee meeting held during Summer Clinic.

            C.  All called Softball Committee meetings held during the year.

 

 II.         Summer Clinic Responsibilities:

            A.  Attend All-Star orientation meeting to assign room accommodations.

            B.  Oversee softball All-Stars.

            C.  Introduce clinicians as designated by the Program Chairman or delegate

                  responsibility to Softball Committee members.

            D.  IMPORTANT:  Supervise softball All-Stars and All-Star coaches

                  demonstration.  Be at the field at least 30 minutes to one (1) hour before

                  demonstration to finalize arrangements.  Introduce softball All-Star coaches.

            E.  Align high school coaches of softball All-Stars to receive certificates in pre-game ceremony.

            F.  Present certificates to high school coaches of softball All-Stars in pre-game ceremony.

            G.  Appoint one Softball Committee member from each of the six UIL conferences

                  to select the Most Valuable Player to receive the M. T. Rice Memorial Award.

            H.  After each All-Star game, present the M. T. Rice award to the Most Valuable Player.

            I.    Select scorekeeper and assistant scorekeeper, scoreboard operator and                                         
                  assistant scoreboard operator, and announcer for the All-Star games.  Send                          
                  names to Executive Director three months prior to games.

            J.  Assist softball chaperones of both teams in collecting uniforms from the

                  players and returning them to the Executive Director.  An inventory of

                  uniforms will be provided by the Executive Director for use in issuing and collecting uniforms.

            K.  Assist in collection of bats, balls, etc. from both teams and return to Executive Director.

 

III.         Legislative Council

            A.  Receive from softball coaches recommendations for proposals to be presented to the Athletic                          
                  Committee of the University Interscholastic League Legislative Council.

            B.  Consider proposals at Softball Committee meetings.

            C.  Present proposals to Board of Directors for approval.         

        

 IV.       Supply articles and other information to the Newsletter editor of the TGCA.
