Cross-Country All-Star Selection Plan
SECTION
I.
NOMINATIONS FOR CROSS COUNTRY ALL-STARS
A. Nominations may be made by TGCA member Cross Country Coaches. Coaches must nominate their own Senior athletes. These nominations must be made by Monday noon prior to the cross country state meet.
B. The Cross Country All-star official nomination form is available on the TGCA web site (www.austintgca.com), or a coach can request a form to be mailed. Verbal nominations are not accepted.
C. Qualified Cross Country Coaches may nominate more than one Senior athlete from their school. For an all-star to be eligible, she must be nominated by her varsity cross country coach.

II.
SELECTION COMMITTEE
A. This committee shall be composed of the members of the TGCA Cross Country Committee.
B. The Cross Country All-star and All-State Committee will meet at the UIL Cross Country State Meet at a time and site designated by the Cross Country Committee Chairperson. At this meeting it shall be the responsibility of the committee to select one Senior Cross Country athlete from each of the five UIL conferences (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A), as Cross Country All-stars The Cross Country All-star nominees must have run at the State Cross Country Meet.
C. Only one All-star per conference will be selected.
D. An athlete selected as a Cross Country All-star automatically becomes a "nominee" for Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
SECTION
III.
THE TGCA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
A. The Executive Director will verify the Cross Country All-stars as soon as possible after the state meet.
B. The Executive Director will then notify, in writing, the selected Cross Country All-stars through their coaches of the selection. ONLY after completing and returning all paperwork sent to them, will the Cross Country athlete OFFICIALLY be a member of the all-star team. The selected all-star should decide within seven (7) days of her notification whether or not she will be available to receive her award at the honor award presentation at the next summer clinic. The all-star should so inform the Executive Director of her decision by properly returning her paperwork either accepting or declining the honor.
C. Coaches may duplicate the nomination form if more than one athlete is nominated.

IV
CROSS COUNTRY HONOR PRESENTATION
A. Until time, as it is feasible or possible, to implement an All-star Cross Country Meet during the summer clinic, this Cross Country All-star selection method will be used to honor some of the state's senior, female cross country athletes.
B. These selected Cross Country All-stars will make up the TGCA All-star Team. They will be recognized both as an individual and a team at half-time of the All-star Basketball games at the summer clinic.
C. Each all-star will receive a special award at half-time of the All-star Basketball game.
D. Lodging and meals will be furnished the all-stars. All clinic sessions and games will be free for the all-stars.
E. The high school coach of each all-star will receive a special award certificate at half-time of the Basketball All-star game and will be recognized.
F. The all-stars will be chaperoned while at the clinic by two adult females selected by the Track and Field, 1A,2A,3A and 4A,5A All-star Coaches.
G. The Cross Country All-stars and their coaches should report to their chaperones and/or Track Committee Chairperson at the time and date designated by the TGCA. If for any reason an All-star and/or coach will be arriving at a later hour than designated by the TGCA, they should notify the Executive Director in advance. This is necessary for proper arrangements to be made.
